Beyond Human

Early sketches revolving around the idea of going beyond the human structure and emerging as a new form of life. We become reborn as cyborgs/ robots where we become far superior as opposed to our organic pasts. What does it mean to be human? How far to we push the transhumanist movement until we start to lose our humanness?

This early idea features the same character through the different stages of a transhumanist transformation. Left: The organic stage and as we are now. Centre: Augmented to the fullest potential of human capacity yet still keeping our humanness. Right: Fully augmented to the point where any aspects of human characteristics are gone.
Bottom: We are reborn as Cyborgs.

I was interested in a mix of space exploration and transhumanism; ultimately the exploration of the self. I was intrigued with the idea that space becomes a metaphor of isolation. '2001: A Space Odyssey' influenced my approach of this exploration and being reborn as a superior being.

The conflict between organic and artificial, design inspired by Michelangelo's 'The creation of Adam'.
